WHO'S WHO?

The main character, Alice, is 11 and completely marvellous. This is a soprano role.

The mezzo soprano playing the role of Alice's Mother also plays the Mad Hatter. They share certain characteristics such as being highly strung. Alice's mother is a frustrated romantic.

Alice's Father is also the Queen of Hearts played by a tenor. The Queen of Hearts is extremely fierce but possibly, beneath, she is just misunderstood....

Alice's two gluttonous siblings are voracious and evil. They are also Tweedledum and Tweedledee who can be palliated with food offerings. These roles require a soprano and mezzo soprano.

The White Rabbit is a lapin superstar undertaken by a baritone singer.

Bottle is a singer and purveyor of dodgy liquids - and a bit of a prima donna. Requires a soprano.

The role of the Dormouse who is very tired and often found in the environs of tea is played by a soprano.

Cheshire Cat played by a countertenor is a sarcastic cat, he comes and goes as he pleases. He can be catty or feline, depending on his mood but don't be fooled by that smile.

Caterpillar is a dreamer of dreams and smoker of things. This role requires a bass/baritone voice.

Humpty Dumpty is a pompous egghead and played by the same singer as the Duchess who is mad, very forgetful and highly romantic. This is a soprano role.

The baritone March Hare is a hare with depressive tendencies. The same singer plays the White Knight, a chivalrous idealist with limited practical use.
