THE PROMISE
Commissioned by the Soochow University Alumni Choir
The Promise is the third of Will Todd’s large scale jazz oratorios, following on from Mass in Blue (2023) and Passion Music (2018) which are also released on the Signum label. This Advent themed work is divided into ten movements. Like its related earlier works, The Promise, makes use of a vibrant rhythm section sound with solo sax and a second keyboard part joining the piano, bass and percussion. There is also an important soloist part for a jazz soprano.
