Other Info:  An 80 minute oratorio with libretto by Ben Dunwell, for large SATB choir with soprano, tenor and baritone soli and large orchestra. Based on the life of the famous Northumbrian Saint, St Cuthbert was written to celebrate the millennium of the Diocese of Durham (995-1995) and premiered in Durham Cathedral on 7 February 1995.  This revision of the piece was performed by Durham University Choral Society and Symphony Orchestra, conducted by James Lancelot, in Durham Cathedral on 6 December 1996.

A recording of St Cuthbert is available on the MWM label, recorded by the Hallé Orchestra and Choir, The Northern Sinfonia Chorus, The Durham Singers with soloists Patricia Rozario, John Hudson and Graeme Danby, conducted by Christopher Austin.  One movement from the work, Man Unkind,  is also available on the album The Call of Wisdom, performed by Tenebrae in a smaller scoring for strings and harp and released by the Signum Classics label (CD code SIGCD298).
