Will Todd’s love of orchestral writing shines through in his orchestral and instrumental works.  He has written concertos for clarinet, saxophone, violin as well as brass band music and jazz ensemble works.

Clarinet Concerto (Concerto for Emma) makes skilful use of blending a jazz aesthetic with the English pastoral tradition.

The early work Saxophone Concerto also makes fine use of jazz instrumentalists.  His haunting Violin Concerto which was commissioned in 1996 is in a more classical contemporary style.

More recently Tyalgum Press has published original jazz compositions written specifically for the Will Todd Ensemble: Nightfall, Aria, When We’re Free to name but a few.
