Will Todd's REQUIEM is being sung in York Minster.
REQUIEM was commissioned in 2008 by The Fairhaven Singers and is written for Soprano Soloist, SSAATTBB Choir and Electric Guitar.
Combining elements of folk, jazz and rock music with contemporary choral writing, Will Todd’s Requiem is a dramatic musical interpretation of ancient texts. Scored for choir, soprano soloist and virtuosic electric guitar, it is by turns unearthly and uplifting, mysterious and lyrical, unnerving and beautiful – reflecting on death and the resurrection.
The Chapter House Singers and The Fairhaven Singers are being directed by Benjamin Morris and are joined by Susan Young (soprano) and Thomas Grey (electric guitar).
Tickets are £10 - £20 (£5 - £17.50 for under 27s) available from the York Minster Box Office, or online here.
