The Kaunas State Choir, which mostly performs monumental and serious academic music pieces, decided to have a little fun this year and, together with the energetic Kaunas Big Band, prepare an upbeat program for the listeners, where you will see both groups from a completely different angle. The concert, full of jazz rhythms, gospel intonations and the best festive Christmas mood, will feature well-known Christmas carols sung all over the world, colored with new arrangements that combine the powerful sound of the choir with the jazzy big band excitement. Such a jazzy, swinging alliance of two collectives will present a bundle of compositions in which the miracle of Christ's birth is hidden. Songs, hymns, bright melodies, transparent harmonies, joy and hope are the keywords of this program. Surrounded by small vocal-instrumental miniatures, the three-part suite "Rejoice" by British composer Will Todd uplifts the listeners and sounds like a flash of light, goodness and blessing.
