I Am Changed (Vocal Score)

Other Info:  I Am Changed was commissioned by The John Lewis Partnership Music Society for first performance at it's annual service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Westminster Cathedral in December 2016. It was sung by the Cavendish Singers directed by Manvinder Rattan.

Description: This reflective carol (setting a text by the composer) features an affecting recurring melody, sumptuous harmonies, and long, expressive phrases. Though it has moments of great intensity, the carol is primarily quietly optimistic in mood, with the homophonic texture and changing metre highlighting the heartfelt devotion of the text.

I have found an earthly throne,
In this bare place, this humble home.
The greatest love the world has known,
Heaven’s child resting here below.

I have heard the perfect song;
Angel voices from above
Heaven’s child given by God’s love.
