Durham Jazz Psalms are settings of Psalms 124, 125 and 126 and were originally written for the 2009 broadcast of Will Todd’s Durham Jazz Evensong from St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, directed by Andrew Earis. Written for SATB with jazz trio, with additional parts for alto and soprano saxophones, trumpet and trombone.  They have been recorded by the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields and are included on the album Evensong in Blue.

Other Info:  Commissioned by David Fisher in 2002, this jazz carol for choir, piano and optional bass, drums and brass quintet is now published by Boosey and Hawkes.

Every Stone Shall Cry sets words by Richard Wilbur and is very energetic. The jazzy block chords and added 9th harmony reflect the joy of the Christmas message. The syncopated choir rhythms also make the text bounce along.

Recordings are available on Mass in Blue, on the Signum Classics label and Christmas in Blue on the St Martin in the Fields.

Other Info: Glory to Thee My God, This Night is an arrangement of the popular Tallis Canon, written here for unison voices with descant, accompanied by piano, and including optional parts for alto and soprano saxophones, trumpet, trombone, bass and drums. It was written for the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields in 2009 and could be sung as a congregational hymn.  A recording of the piece is included on the album Evensong in Blue.
