Brandywine Valley Chorale, together with choirs from Unionville, Kennett, and Pequea Valley High Schools, present Will Todd's PASSION MUSIC and the World Premiere of O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM
Commissioned by Jason Throne for Unionville High School Chorale and Brandywine Valley Chorale in 2024 this setting of the famous O Magnum Mysterium text weaves interlocking vocal lines over a piano drone with percussion and saxophone accompaniment.
O Magnum Mysterium will be included in Will's new album All Will Be Well with Newcastle-based choir Voices of Hope.
Passion Music continues English composer and pianist Will Todd’s successful fusion of jazz and choral music. The structure of the work highlights different points in the Passion story.
The composition makes full use of Will. Todd’s understanding of expressive music combined with revered biblical texts. And with help from the featured gospel soloist and a seven-piece jazz ensemble, the work conjures an intimate and spellbinding jazz-soul experience. Most especially, Will. Todd will join the musicians and vocalists on stage as guest conductor.
