Leading British jazz composer Will Todd is attending The Charles Wood Festival of Music and Summer School this year. The Gala Concert on Friday 25th August will feature Will Todd’s highly popular setting of the Latin mass – Mass in Blue – and he will also deliver a special jazz workshop on Saturday 26th August.
The Charles Wood Festival of Music and Summer School for singers, organists and choir directors will take place in all the main churches in Armagh, Northern Ireland, from 20th – 27th August 2017. David Hill, Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers, will direct the Charles Wood Singers, the forty-strong festival choir, assisted by Philip Scriven and Judith GannonIan Keatley, Organist and Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral Dublin, will direct the new Charles Wood Girls’ Choir, assisted by Stephen Disley, who is the Girls’ Choir organist. Internationally famous specialist voice coach, Paul Farrington, will conduct workshops and give individual tuition.

We are delighted to welcome composer and conductor John Rutterback to our Festival this year. Rutter will lead our ‘Come and Sing’event on Thursday 24th August at 7.45pm; this a not to be missed opportunity to sing a selection of Rutter’s pieces under the direction of the composer himself.

We are also delighted that composer Will Todd will be present at this Year’s Festival. He will play the piano for a performance of his Mass in Blue at the Gala Concert on Friday 25th August and then give a Jazz Workshop on Saturday 26th August.
